Cozy Starfall Tab — Privacy Policy

Cozy Starfall Tab ("CozyStar", "we", or "the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This page explains what information the extension may access, why it is requested, and how that data is handled. CozyStar is designed to be lightweight and privacy-friendly. Summary

CozyStar does not upload your browsing data to any server. Optional features that surface recent sites operate entirely on your device. Your extension settings and quick-link list are stored locally and can be cleared or disabled at any time.

What we collect and why

• Settings & preferences: Theme choice, timer configuration, and which visual elements are enabled. Purpose: to persist your preferences between new tabs and browser restarts.
• Quick-links (optional): If you enable floating quick-links, CozyStar may read recent site titles/hostnames locally to build a small, deduped list of shortcuts shown on the New Tab. Purpose: convenient one‑tap access to sites you visit often.
• Initial suggestions (optional): To provide helpful suggestions on first run, CozyStar may read your browser's top sites when quick‑links are enabled and no recent‑site list exists yet.

How the data is handled

All data described above is stored locally in your browser using extension storage. CozyStar does not transmit or share your browsing history or quick-link list with third parties. The quick-link list is kept small and deduped for clarity. You may disable quick‑links or clear stored data at any time from the extension's settings.

Permissions explained

CozyStar requests a minimal set of permissions to provide the features described below. Each permission is only used for the feature indicated:

• storage: Save user preferences and the local quick-link list so settings persist across new tabs and restarts.
• topSites: (optional) Provide an initial set of quick-link suggestions on first run when quick‑links are enabled.
• history: (optional) When quick‑links are enabled, read recent-site titles/hostnames locally to create the quick‑link list. This is disabled if you turn off quick‑links.

User controls & choices

• Disable quick‑links: Toggle off the quick‑link/planets feature in Settings to stop the extension from reading or updating recent-site data.
• Clear stored data: Use the extension Settings to clear quick‑links and reset preferences.
• Uninstall: Removing the extension deletes its stored data from your browser.

Security

Data remains inside your browser's extension storage area. CozyStar does not send browsing history or quick-link lists to any server. Keep your browser and device secure to protect local data.

Third-party services

CozyStar does not use external analytics, crash reporting, or cloud services that collect user data. If this changes, we will update this policy and the store listing to reflect new behavior.

Children's privacy

CozyStar is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Major changes will be noted in the extension's release notes.
